August8,2000 <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that notice of this change will be <br />mailed to all registered voters whose polling place is changed at <br />least 15 days prior to the next general, special, or primary election, <br />and <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that copies of this ordinance shall be <br />sent to the Martinsville Electoral Board, State Board, and the <br />Division of Legislative Services when this ordinance becomes <br />effective, and <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that an emergency exists and that <br />this ordinance shall therefore take effect on and after this date. <br /> <br />Council Member Dallas moved to adopt the following Consent Agenda; the <br /> <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br /> <br />Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />Set a Public Hearing for August 22, 2000, on a proposed <br />amendment to Section VI--General Sign Regulations, <br />Paragraph C--Permitted Signs and Paragraph N--Permitted <br />Signs in Districts of the City's Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br /> Council considered adoption of a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to <br />submit a grant application to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community <br />Development requesting $49,500 to assist with the City's Critical Care and Derelict <br />Structure Stabilization/Demolition Program. Chris Whitlow, Community Development <br />Specialist, stated, "This would provide funds for projects such as critical care and <br /> <br />demolition. We hope that the [grant selection] committee will look favorably on small <br /> <br />cities. Seven neighborhoods were looked at in 1994, which was the basis for the <br /> <br />Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program." Vice Mayor Teague stated, <br /> <br />"This would allow us to focus on the whole section and help us to identify before it gets <br /> <br />to CDBG." Vice Mayor Teague moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - <br /> <br />0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> <br />
