202 <br /> <br />August 8, 2000 <br /> <br />will enjoy a new sense of security thanks to a community <br />organization's need for serving the community. <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled August 8, 2000, that Altrusa <br />International of Martinsville and Henry County is publicly <br />recognized for extraordinary efforts in its vision for the community <br />and wholeheartedness in the initiative aforementioned. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of an Ordinance, on emergency basis, relocating <br /> <br />Voting Precinct No. 4 from the Martinsville High School Front Lobby to the Martinsville <br /> <br />High School Auditorium Lobby on Commonwealth Boulevard. Joseph Finley, Electoral <br /> <br />Board Chair, stated, "Thank you for such a quick response to our request. The new <br /> <br />location will be more convenient and have more room." Council Member Roop moved <br /> <br />to adopt the following Ordinance, on emergency basis; the motion was duly seconded <br /> <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br /> <br />Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 9, 2000, the <br />Council of the City of Martinsville adopted a resolution to change <br />the polling place of voting precinct #4 in the City of Martinsville from <br />the front lobby of Martinsville High School to the auditorium lobby of <br />Martinsville High School, subject to the approval by the U. S. <br />Department of Justice of this voting change, and authorized the <br />City Attorney to apply to said Department of Justice for said <br />approval, and, <br />WHEI~EAS, approval of this change has been received from the U. <br />S. 9el:~rtment of Justice by its letter dated July 20, 2000, and, <br />WHEREAS, notice of this change has been published in the <br />Martinsville Bulletin once a week for two successive weeks on July <br />30, 2000, and on August 6, 2000 as required by Section 24.2-306 <br />of the Code of Virginia, <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session held on August 8, 2000, <br />that the polling place for precinct #4 in the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia be, and it hereby is, changed from the front lobby of <br />Martinsville High School to the auditorium lobby of Martinsville High <br />School on Commonwealth Boulevard, in the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, and <br /> <br /> <br />
