By looking through a hand-held
camera, these devices enable firefighters to see victims, even
through dense and potentially deadly smoke. Thermal imagery
cameras are proven to save lives, reduce pain and suffering, and
result in the reduction of odds for firefighter mortality.
WHEREAS, Altrusa International of Martinsville and Henry County,
a community organization, has voluntarily come forth and
graciously agreed to raise the necessary capital for the
procurement of this cutting-edge technology. At an expense of
nearly $18,000, Altrusa International will seek funds, through
private contributions to equip the Martinsville Fire Department with
a thermal imagery camera. By doing so, the citizens of Martinsville
