§ 23-20 MARTINSVILLE CODE <br /> <br />Sec. 23-20. Wasting water. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for the owner or occupant of any premises, having thereon a hydrant <br />or other fixture for supplying water, to permit water to run carelessly in a wasteful manner. <br />Service may be discontinued for violation of this section. <br />(Code 1971, § 17-31) <br /> <br />Secs. 23-21--23-25. Reserved. <br /> <br />DIVISION 2. EXTENSIONS WITHIN CITY <br /> <br />Sec. 23-26. Purpose and application of division. <br /> <br /> There are hereby established by this division regulations governing the conditions and <br />standards under which the city will permit the public water and sewer lines to be extended <br />Within the corporate limits of the city along or over streets, alleys, public rights-of-way or <br />easements, which were dedicated or made a matter of record prior to adoption of the subdivi- <br />sion ordinance (December 17, 1957), in the circuit court clerk's office of the City of Martins- <br />ville or of the County of Henry, Virginia. <br />(Code 1971, App. C, § 1) <br /> <br />Sec. 23-27. Definitions. <br /> <br /> For the purposes of this division, the term "applicant" shall mean a person desiring to <br />extend the public water or sewer lines, or both, in accord with the provisions of this division, <br />and the term "department" shall mean the city public works department. <br />(Code 1971, App. C, § 2) . <br /> <br />Sec. 23-28. General procedure. <br /> <br /> Any person desiring to extend the public water or sewer utility lines within the city shall <br />conform to the following procedure: <br /> <br /> (1) Suitable information shall be supplied to the department as evidence that each street <br /> on which it is proposed an extension be made has been established and made a matter <br /> of record prior to December 17, 1957. The department may require the information to <br /> include the date and map book or deed book reference wherein the street was <br /> dedicated and recorded, if such reference is necessary to establish the claim of <br /> dedication or recordation. ~ <br /> <br /> (2) A plan and profile shall be prepared and submitted to the department of the section of <br /> street pertaining to which the request has been made of the extension of the lines. <br /> This plan and profile shall indicate the unfinished and proposed finished grade of the <br /> street, location of all necessary storm drains, both existing and proposed, and pro- <br /> posed elevations of the water or sewer lines. <br /> <br /> (3) The department director may request of the' applicant a plan and profile of the street <br /> beyond the point in which utilities will be extended, if it is deemed: necessary to <br /> <br />1368 <br /> <br /> <br />
