Lifeguard chairs. <br /> <br /> Each public swimming pool shall have the following: At least one elevated lifeguard chair <br />for two thousand (2,000) square feet of pool surface or major fraction thereof. Where a pool is <br />provided with more than one lifeguard chair and the pool width is forty (40) feet or more, <br />chairs shall be located on each side of the pool. In Type "D!' public pools with areas of one <br />thousand two hundred (1,200) square feet or less and in all Type "E" public pools, lifeguard <br />chairs need not be provided. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.911]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-62. Lifesaving equipment. <br /> <br /> (a) There shall be provided at each public swimming pool one unit of lifesaving equip- <br />ment, which shall consist of the following: A Coast Guard approved ring buoy with a mini- <br />mum outside diameter of twenty (20) inches (U.S.C.G. approval numbers 160.009 or 160.050) <br />to which shall be attached a length of one-quarter inch rope of not less than one and one-half <br />(1V2) times the maximum width of the pool; a life l~ole or shepherd's crook with a minimum <br />handle of twelve (12) feet. One unit shall be provided for each two thousand (2,000) square feet <br />of pool area or major fraction thereof. <br /> <br /> (b) Lifesaving equipment shall be mounted in conspicuous places, distributed around the <br />pool edge, at lifeguard chairs or some other accessible place, with its function plainly marked. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.912], [3]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-63. Telephone. <br /> <br /> A telephone shall be provided in the immediate deck area of a public swimming pool, for <br />possible emergency needs. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, §-9-1.915]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-64. Food and drink facilities. <br /> <br /> Food and drink preparation, serving or consumption facilities shall be permitted at a <br />public swimming pool only within designated areas and, in all cases, a minimum of twelve <br />(12) feet from the water. <br />(Ord. of 5:10-77, § 9-1.5112]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-65. Dressing rooms, showers, toilet facilities and lavatories. <br /> <br /> (a) A dressing room shall be provided for each sex at 'public swimming pools. Metal <br />lockers, wire baskets, hooks Or other sanitary means of storage of clothing and personal <br />accessories shall be provided. Wooden lockers or clothes bags will not be permitted.
