§ 20-41 MARTINSVILLE CODE <br /> <br /> (b) Chemicals other than chlorine, sodium hypochlorite or calcium hypochlorite, lime, <br />soda ash and aluminum sulfate shall not be used to treat swimming p0ol water, without prior <br />approval of the director of public health. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.812], [4]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-42. Hydrogen-ion concentration in water. <br /> <br /> The hydrogen-ion concentration (pH) in the water of a swimming pool shall be maintained <br />at 7.2 or above. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.813]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-43. Operation of ~ters; clarity of water. <br /> <br /> The filters for a swimming pool shall be operated twenty-four (24) hours per day during <br />the season of use of the swimming pool. At all times when the pool is open for use, water shall <br />be sufficiently clear to permit a disc six (6) inches in diameter, divided into alternate black <br />and white quadrants, when placed on the bottom of the pool at the deepest point, to be clearly <br />visible from the swimming pool deck at all distances up to ten (10) yards in a horizontal <br />direction from the projection of the disc on the swimming pool surface~ <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.814]) <br /> <br />Secs. 20-44--20-53. Reserved. <br /> <br />ARTICLE III. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PUBLIC POOLS <br /> <br />Sec. 20-54. Application of article. <br /> <br /> The provisions of this article shall be applicable to public swimming pools and shall be in <br />addition to other provisions of this chapter applicable to all pools. <br /> <br />Sec. 20-55. Operator's permit. <br /> <br /> ~ (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, who does not possess an unrev0ked operator's <br />permit issued to him by the director of public health, to operate a public swimming pool in the <br />city or to open such pool for use. An operator's permit shall be issued only to an individual or <br />to an organization, naming a specific individual to be in charge, and shall be valid only until <br />the end of the calendar year in ~vhich it is issued, unless sooner revoked by the director of <br />public health. Such a permit shall only be issued for those public swimming pools meeting the <br />requirements of this chapter. <br /> <br /> (b) A permit issued under this section shall be posted under transparent water-proof <br />material in view of the bathers at such swimming p0ol. <br /> <br /> (c) Continued failure to comply with the requirements of this chapter or the building code <br />shall be cause for revocation of any operator's permit issued pursuant' to this section. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, §§ 9-1.13, 9-1.14) <br /> Cross reference--Building code, § 6-1. <br /> <br />1196 <br /> <br /> <br />
