SWIMMING POOLS <br /> <br />§ 20-41 <br /> <br />Sec. 20-36. Pumping equipment. <br /> <br /> The pumping equipment of a swimming pool shall have sufficient capacity to discharge <br />the volume of water for the required turn-over of the pool against the maximum head in the <br />recirculation system. The pump used for backwashing sand filters shall have sufficient capac- <br />ity to backwash the unit at the rate of at least twelve (I2~TM galIons per minute pex s~uare foot of <br />filter area against the maximum head developed during backwashingL <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 94.713D <br /> <br />Sec. 20-37. Hair and lint catcher. - <br /> Th~ hair and lint catcher of a recirculation system required by this article; shall be <br />installed ahead of the filter pump and shall be 'designed and located so that it can be easiIy <br />and simply dismantled for cleaning and inspection. <br />(Ord. of 5-10~77, § 9-1.714]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-38. Rate of flow indicator, <br /> The recirculation system required by this article shall be equipped with a rate-of-flow <br />indicator reading in gallons per minute, located so as to indicate the rate of flow of the effluent <br />from the filter and also the rate of backwash in gallon per minute in sand 'or anthracite coal <br />filters. <br />'(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.716]) <br /> <br />Sec. 20-39. Suction cleaner. <br /> A suction cleaner shall be provided for every swimming pool. Where the suction cleaner is <br />operated by the recirculation pump, a device shall be provided for throttling the flow from the <br />pool outlet, and the suction cleaner line shall be connected through the hair and lint catcher. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.717]) <br /> <br />Sec. 2040. Chemical feeding and testing equipment. . <br /> <br /> (a) Means shall be provided for regulating the feeding of chemicals to the water in the <br />recirculation system of a swimming pool. The installation of mechanically operated, positive <br />chemical feeders or open-type chemical machines is required for swimming pools having an <br />area in excess of one thousand five hundred (1,500) square feet or having a capacity of sixty <br />thousand (60,000) gallons or more. The installation of closed type solution pots is prohibited. <br /> <br /> (b) Each swimming pool shall be provided with satisfactory equipment for the determina- <br />tion of hydrogen-ion concentration (pH) ranging from 6.8 to 8. SatiSfactory equipment shall <br />also be provided for determination of residual chlorine content ranging from 0 to 1.0 ppm. <br />(Ord. of 5-10-77, § 9-1.718], [10]) <br /> <br />Sec. 2041. Chemical content of water. <br /> <br /> (a) The chlorination equipment shall be operated so as to maintain a free chlorine <br />residual content of not less than 0.5 ppm at all points throughout the swimming pool water <br />when there are bathers present. <br /> <br />1195 <br /> <br /> <br />
