STREETS AND SIDEWALKS § 19-22 <br /> <br />comply with such notice within five (5) days, the director-of public works may cause the <br />correction to be made at the cost of the city, and the cost thereof, with twenty (20) percent <br />additional, shall be collected from the person in default in the same manner as fines and <br />assessments are collected. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-25) <br /> <br />Sec. 19-19. Washing vehicles on or near street or sidewalk or in city parking lot. <br /> It shall be unlawful and a Class 4 misdemeanor for any person t0 wash an automobile, <br />truck or other vehicle on the streets or sidewalks of the city, or at or on:any wash pit, platform <br />or other location which drains upon the surface of any paved street or sidewalk of the city, or <br />within any municipal parking lot. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-13) <br /> Cross references--Penalty for Class 4 misdemeanor, § 1-11; prohibition against parking <br />vehicle on street for purpose of washing such vehicle, § 12-79(3). <br /> <br />Sec. 19-20. Removal of snow and ice from sidewalks. <br /> <br /> (a) It shall be the duty of the occupant of any premises, or the owner thereof, if the <br />premises is unoccupied, if there is a paved sidewalk along the front Or side of the premises, to <br />remove or cause to be removed all snow therefrom within Six (6) hours after the snow has <br />ceased to fall; provided, however, that if the snow fall ceases after 3:00 p.m. or on Sunday, it <br />shall be removed before 10:00 a.m. the following day. It shall also be the duty of such occupant <br />or owner to likewise remove or cause to be removed all sleet and ice formed on the sidewalk, or <br />to scatter sand, cinders, gravel or a~hes thereon to make the sidewalk safe for pedestrian use. <br /> <br /> (b) A violation of this section shall constitute a Class 3 misdemeanor. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-15) <br /> Cross reference--Penalty for Class 3 misdemeanor, § 1-11. <br /> State law reference--Authority for above section, Code of Virginia, § 15.1-867. <br /> <br />Sec. 19-21. Removal of coal particles or dust from sidewalk over which coal transported. <br /> <br /> (a) Whenever coal is handled or transported over or about any sidewalk in the city~ the <br />person in charge of the work shall take reasonable precautions to prevent the creation and <br />spread of dust on and about the premises. He shall, within one hoursafter the work is <br />completed, sweep or remove all particles of coal or dust from the sidewalk. <br /> <br /> (b) A violation of this section shall constitute a Class 3 misdemeanor. <br />(Code 1971, § 15-18) <br /> Cross reference--Penalty for Class 3 misdemeanor, § 1-11. <br /> <br />Sec. 19-22.
