STREETS AND SIDEWALKS § 19-22 comply with such notice within five (5) days, the director-of public works may cause the correction to be made at the cost of the city, and the cost thereof, with twenty (20) percent additional, shall be collected from the person in default in the same manner as fines and assessments are collected. (Code 1971, § 15-25) Sec. 19-19. Washing vehicles on or near street or sidewalk or in city parking lot. It shall be unlawful and a Class 4 misdemeanor for any person t0 wash an automobile, truck or other vehicle on the streets or sidewalks of the city, or at or on:any wash pit, platform or other location which drains upon the surface of any paved street or sidewalk of the city, or within any municipal parking lot. Removal of snow and ice from sidewalks. (a) It shall be the duty of the occupant of any premises, or the owner thereof, if the premises is unoccupied, if there is a paved sidewalk along the front Or side of the premises, to remove or cause to be removed all snow therefrom within Six (6) hours after the snow has ceased to fall; provided, however, that if the snow fall ceases after 3:00 p.m. or on Sunday, it shall be removed before 10:00 a.m. the following day. It shall also be the duty of such occupant or owner to likewise remove or cause to be removed all sleet and ice formed on the sidewalk, or to scatter sand, cinders, gravel or a~hes thereon to make the sidewalk safe for pedestrian use. (a) Whenever coal is handled or transported over or about any sidewalk in the city~ the person in charge of the work shall take reasonable precautions to prevent the creation and spread of dust on and about the premises. He shall, within one hoursafter the work is completed, sweep or remove all particles of coal or dust from the sidewalk. (b) A violation of this section shall constitute a Class 3 misdemeanor. It shall be unlawful and a Class 4 misdemeanor for any person over.the age of fourteen (14) years to skate on any paved public sidewalk of the city.
