FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION § 9-8 <br /> <br /> (b) The fire chief and his subordinates, upon his order or direction, shall have the right to <br />remain at the scene of a fire, including remaining in any building or house, for purposes of <br />protecting the property and preventing the public from entry into the damaged premises, <br />until such reasonable time as the owner may resume responsibility for the protectinn of the <br />property. <br />(Ord. of 10-26-82, §§ 3, 4) <br /> <br />Sec. 9-5. Compliance with orders of fire chief. · <br /> <br /> No person shall willfully fail or refuse to Comply with any lawful order or direction of the <br />fire chief or interfere with the compliance attempts of another individual. <br />(Ord. of 10-26-82, § 5) <br /> <br />Sec. 9-6. Destruction of property to prevent spread of fire. <br /> <br /> The fire chief may direct the pulling down or destroying of any fence, house or other thing <br />which he may judge necessary to be pulled down or destroyed to prevent the spreading of fire, <br />and for this purpose, may require such assistance from all present as he shall judge necessary. <br />The owner of such property shall be entitled to recover from the city the amount of the actual <br />damage which he may have sustained by reason for the same having been pulled down or <br />destroyed under such direction. This section shall not enable any person to recover compensa- <br />tion for property which would have been destroyed by the fire, if the same had not been pulled <br />down or destroyed under such direction, but only for what could have been saved with <br />ordinary care and diligence, had no such direction been given. <br />(Ord. of 10-26-82, § 18) <br /> <br />Sec. 9-7. Interfering with fire department operations. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to interfere with, attempt to interfere with, conspire to <br />interfere with, obstruct or restrict the mobility of, or block the path of travel of, any fire <br />department emergency vehicle in any way, or to interfere with, attempt to interfere with, <br />conspire to interfere with, obstruct or hamper any fire department operation. <br />(Ord. of 10-26-82, § 6) <br /> <br />Sec. 9-8. Boarding, tampering with, etc.,'fire department vehicles. <br /> <br /> No person shall, without proper authorization from the fire chief or other officer in charge <br />of fire department emergency equipment, cling to, attach himself to, climb upon or into, board <br />or swing upon any fire department emergency vehicle, whether the same is in motion or at <br />rest, or sound the siren, horn, bell or other sound-producing device thereon, or manipulate or <br />tamper with, or attempt to manipulate or tamper with, any levers, valves, switches, starting <br />devices, brakes, pumps or any equipment or protective clothing on, or a part of, any fire <br />department emergency vehicle. <br />(Ord. of 10-26:82, § 12) <br /> Cross reference--Injuring, tampering with, etc., vehicles generally, § 13-32. <br /> <br />551 <br /> <br /> <br />
