<br />~ 2-92 <br /> <br />MARTINSVILLE CODE <br /> <br />/-- <br /> <br />Sec. 2-92. General responsibilities of director. <br /> <br />(a) The. director of public works shall be responsible for the administrative direction, <br />review and evaluation of services and operations of the public works department. He shall <br />recommend department policies and, with approval of the city manager, establish work <br />objectives and policies for each division of the department. <br /> <br />(b) The director of public works shall supervise and have control over the activities of all <br />personnel within the department and all divisions thereof and shall be in charge of all work <br />programs within the department and shall supervise the compilation of cost data estimates <br />and prepare work plans for public works improvements. <br /> <br />(c) In additiQlfl to the powers and duties prescribed by this Code and other ordinances of <br />the city, the director of public works shall perform such duties and exercise such powers as are <br />prescribed by the city manager. <br />(Code 1971, ~~ 13-3, 13-4) <br /> <br />Sec. 2-93. Duties of director as to streets, parks, water and sewer facilities, refuse <br />collection, etc. <br /> <br />The director of public works, under the direction of the city manager, shall be in charge of <br />and responsible for the streets, sidewalks, parks, alleys, public buildings and public places <br />and it shall be his duty to keep the same in good repair and safe for the public in the normal <br />use thereof. He shall plan and exercise general supervision over water construction and <br />maintenance, street construction and maintenance, sewage system operation and mainte- <br />nance, water and sewage treatment activities and refuse collection and disposal.
