March 9, 2000 <br /> <br />Director of Facilities, added, "Following the project, this facility will be fully air <br /> <br />conditioned, asbestos-free, and the only school with an emergency generator." <br /> <br />Council, School Board, and Staff then toured the facility and reassembled in the <br /> <br />Teachers' Work Room. <br /> <br />Dr. Trollinger stated, "We're very proud of it." Mayor Crabtree stated, "lt's an <br /> <br />abomination of what we counted as classrooms before." Council Member Haskell <br /> <br />asked, "Will the renovations allow for smaller class size?" Dr. Trollinger replied, "Yes, <br /> <br />but it depends upon if we have the money to hire extra teachers. Class sizes in the <br /> <br />elementary schools range from fourteen to twenty-two." <br /> <br />Dr. Trollinger presented the following report regarding major projects of the entire <br /> <br />school system for the last three years: <br /> <br />Facilities and Grounds: completed Martinsville Middle School <br />Renovation, refinished Martinsville Middle School Gymnasium, air- <br />conditioned Clearview Elementary School, started Albert Harris <br />Intermediate School renovation, installed new chiller at Martinsville <br />High School, completed yard improvement at Druid Hills <br />Elementary School, installed dehumidifiers and air-conditioning <br />units at Druid Hills Elementary School, and relocated and upgraded <br />Central Office facilities. <br />Technolo.av: wired all schools for internet, placed Waterford <br />Reading Labs in all kindergartens, replaced student information <br />management system in all schools, placed computer labs in all <br />schools, developed the Community Room at Martinsville Middle <br />School, upgraded CAD lab at Martinsville High School, developed <br />an Academy of Reading lab at Martinsville Middle School, placed a <br />minimum of one computer in each K-8 classroom, developed media <br />management programs in all schools, developed computer courses <br />for all fourth and fifth grade students, developed an extensive staff <br />development program, made plans for a computer repair systems <br />technology program at Martinsville High School, worked with <br />Transition from Wang to MUNIS computer programs at Central <br />Office, and ordered computers to do an art program at Martinsville <br />High School. <br /> Programs for.
