December 14, 1999 <br /> <br /> discussing with other leaders regarding an economic summit; organizing a regional job <br /> fair for January 13, 2000, at the National Guard Armory; individual employees are <br /> writing letters to the editor [Martinsville Bulletin], and City Council is developing <br /> opportunities for new jobs." Council Member Haskell stated, "The job fair is a real <br /> oppodunity by reaching out regionally. For those in need, who should they contact.'?" <br /> Mr. Cashwell responded, "Traditional methods are best." City Manager Reynolds <br /> stated, "We are very fortunate to have Renee Wyatt as our new Public Information <br /> Officer." <br /> <br /> Mayor Crabtree opened the Town Meeting. Mrs. Prillaman stated, "1 receive <br />complaints, enter them into the computer, give them to the appropriate department, and <br />follow-up. Out of 314 actual complaints received, only 22 are pending. We do receive <br />compliments, which are printed in 'Just Us'. All of the new numbers are in the white <br />pages." Nancy Carter, of 1112 Cherokee Trail, asked, "Who do we call for leash law <br />problems?" Mrs. Prillaman responded, "You can call me." Michael Rogers, Chief of <br />Police, added, "However, I also encourage you to call 911, if necessary, especially if it is <br />a large animal." Council Member Haskell stated, "The word is out to call. The City's <br />looking better as a result, and citizens feel they're receiving better service." Vice Mayor <br />Teague stated, "Thank you, Brenda, for responding when City Council calls." Council <br />Member Dallas stated, "1 like the newest feature, bulk pickup of garbage." <br /> <br /> Mr. Cashwell introduced Earl Smith. Mr. Smith stated, "For eighteen years I <br />drove a truck, and, at the age of 40, decided to make a career change. I am a product <br />of this City. Thanks to the Mayor and City Council for bringing jobs to the community. I <br />am very heartbroken about Tultex's announcement, but the employees need to have an <br /> <br /> <br />
