August 24, 1999 <br /> <br />Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is hereby--amended to the extent <br />that 701 Liberty Street, Parcel 12 (04) 1, on the Zoning Map of the <br />City of Martinsville is hereby rezoned from C-1 Commercial to C-3 <br />Commercial. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Mayor Crabtree opened the Public Hearing regarding the possible adoption of an <br /> <br />Ordinance on a request by James A. and Christina S. Mallard to rezone 411 East <br /> <br />Church Street from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional. Wayne D. P. Knox, Planning, <br /> <br />Zoning, & Housing Manager, stated that this rezoning would Mr. and Mrs. Mallard to <br /> <br />relocate their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) firm. He added that no objections were <br /> <br />voiced at the Public Hearing on August 6, 1999, and that the Planning Commission <br /> <br />unanimously recommended this action. Mr. Mallard stated, "We've grown from a staff of <br /> <br />one to five and need the room." Mayor Crabtree closed the Public Hearing. Council <br /> <br />Member Dallas moved to adopt the following Ordinance; the motion was duly seconded <br /> <br />and carried by the following vote, with all present members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) <br /> <br />- Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None; Absent (0) - None; <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in order to assure <br />compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491 (g), it is stated that <br />the public purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to fulfill the <br />requirements of public necessity, convenience, general welfare and <br />good zoning practice, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is hereby--amended to the extent <br />that 411 East Church Street, Parcel 34 (03) 9, on the Zoning Map <br />of the City of Martinsville is hereby rezoned from R-9 Residential to <br />P-2 Professional. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Jim Tobin, of the Piedmont Community Services, presented the FY1999-2000 <br /> <br />Performance Contract.
