August 24, 1999 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in order to assure <br />compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491 (g), it is stated that <br />the public purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to fulfill the <br />requirements of public necessity, convenience, general welfare and <br />good zoning practice, that the Proposed Land Use Map of the City <br />of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is hereby---amended to the extent <br />that 907 Morgan Street, Parcel 25 (8) 7, on the Tax Map of the City <br />of Martinsville is designated as being for Commercial usage. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Mayor Crabtree opened the Public Hearing regarding the possible adoption of an <br /> <br />Ordinance on a request by James L. V. Bradford to rezone 701 Liberty Street from C-1 <br /> <br />Commercial to C-3 Commercial. Wayne D. P. Knox, Planning, Zoning, & Housing <br /> <br />Manager, stated that Mr. Radford's current business will be affected by the Liberty <br /> <br />Street improvements, and that this rezoning would allow Mr. Radford to relocate his <br /> <br />barber shop. He added that no objections were voiced at the Public Hearing on August <br /> <br />6, 1999, and that the Planning Commission unanimously recommended this action. Mr. <br /> <br />Radford stated, "1 hope to stay in business during construction of the Liberty Street <br /> <br />improvements." <br /> <br />Radford replied, <br /> <br />Council Member Haskell inquired about access to his business. Mr. <br /> <br />"The State says that I'll have two entrances." Mayor Crabtree closed <br /> <br />the Public Hearing. Council Member Roop moved to adopt the following Ordinance; the <br /> <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all present members <br /> <br />voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - <br /> <br />None; Absent (0) - None; <br /> <br />Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />assembled, that in order to assure <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the <br />Virginia, in regular session <br />compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491 (g), it is stated that <br />the public purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to fulfill the <br />requirements of public necessity, convenience, general welfare and <br />good zoning practice, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br /> <br /> <br />
