TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1999 <br />1999-2000 as submitted, attached and made a part of these minutes, by the following vote, all members <br /> <br />voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br /> Council next considered the need to recess as City Council and convene as the Martinsville <br />Redevelopment and Housing Authority, which was done by the following vote, all members voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br /> Mr. Reynolds stated that there had been exciting discussions with a City business during <br />the past week concerning an expansion. Tom Harned, Assistant to the City Manager for Development, <br />stated that Nationwide Homes had experienced strong sales, and was in need of additional property on <br />which to store finished products. Mr. Noel Ward, a senior corporate official with Nationwide Homes, <br />spoke to request use of a portion of the Rives Road Industrial Park owned by the City for excess storage. <br />Mr. Ward reviewed the history of his company' s use of Enterprise Zone benefits, noting how this <br />program had paid off for the company, which had increased production and added 102 new employees. <br />He stated that the relationship between the City and Nationwide had been a good one, benefiting his <br />company and the community. Council, acting in their capacity as the Martinsville Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority, then acted to approve a lease with Nationwide Homes for the use of land for storage <br />at the Rives Road Industrial Park, for a twelve month period with no rent payment required, by the <br />following vote, all members voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br /> <br />
