FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 1989 <br /> <br />10. <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />12. <br /> <br />Health Department, Henry County-Martinsville (Mr. Earl W. Jones, <br />Administrative Manager), reflecting a 2% decrease under 1989-90, <br />as to City's contribution -- no tentative action recorded. <br /> <br />PiedmOnt Regional Community Services Board (Mrs. Claire Hart, <br />Acting Director), with no increase over 1988-89 being requested, <br />with discussion/inquiries being directed to this agency's'annual <br />leave regulations, particularly as such .regulations apply in the <br />case of Mr. Ottis Birge, who resigned as Director on March 24, <br />1989, but will (in effect) remain on the agency's payroll into <br />December of 1989. <br /> <br />Citizens Against Family Violence' (Ms. Lynn Wehlaw, Acting <br />Executive Director), with reference being made to possible <br />duplication of services for the "homeless" already being rendered <br />by the City's Social Services Department -- Council's tentative <br />action indicated that the City's financial support of this agency <br />will be limited to the same amount (of $3,000.00) in 1989-90 as <br />was appropriated in 1988-89. <br /> <br />Southern Area Agency on Aging, Inc., formerly Piedmont Seniors of <br />Virginia (Ms. Alice Canupp, Executive Director) -- tentatively <br />approved same amount (of $1,167.00) for 1989-90 as was allowed <br />for 1988-89, "putting on hold" a requested increase of $7,280.00 <br />as the City's local 20% match for the purchase/replacement of a <br />vehicle for transportation of elderly persons in need of medical <br />attention, such as dialysis treatments. (Note: It was revealed <br />that for this agency's service area, being the cities of Danville <br />and Martinsville and the counties of Pittsylvania, Henry, <br />Franklin and Patrick, the agency owns and operates thirty-six <br />motor vehicles.) <br /> <br />Central Piedmont Employment Consortium (Ms. Kristen Shores, <br />Executive Director) --request of $237.00, an increase of $20.00 <br />over 1988-89, was tentatively approved. <br /> <br /> Economic ~evelopment Corporation of Martinsville & Henry County <br />· (Mr. J. Burness Frith, Board Chairman), with some discussion as <br /> to whether the City should remain, in financial support of this <br /> corporation, a 50/50 partner with Henry County, a matter Mr. <br /> Frith indicated he will discuss with his fellow-board members -- <br /> request for $50,000.00, same as heretofore annually contributed, <br /> was tentatively approved. <br /> <br />City Treasurer's Office (John W. Bouldin, Jr., Treasurer), which <br />budget has not been acted upon by the State Compensation Board <br />but includes some 6.4% increase in salaries, including an <br />increase in the allowance for collecting utility accounts payable <br />by the City -- Council tentatively approved an increase of <br />$773.00 in net local cost for 1989-90. <br /> <br />Office of Commissioner of Revenue (J. Ronnie Minter, Commissioner <br />of the Revenue), for which was requested an increase of $9,593.00 <br />in local cost for 1989-90 -- no tentative action recorded. <br /> <br /> <br />
