TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 1989 <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a copy of a letter from Mr. Duane S. Dahlquist, <br />Director of the City of Danville's Electric Department and as President of the <br />Blue Ridge Powe~ Agency, representing the several municipal electric systems <br />located in.southwest Virginia, and addressed to Mr. John W. Vaughan, Executive <br />Vice President of Appalachian Power Company (APCO), inquiring as to why APCO <br />can justify, as it has recently, a series of retail rate decreases without <br />proposing or initiating a rate decrease for its wholesale customers. <br /> <br />Council established and/or scheduled work-sessions for consideration of City <br />Manager Brown's proposed 1989-90 City Budget, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. Friday, April 7, 1989, at 2:00 P.M., in the Council Chamber, <br /> to consider agency budget requests; <br /> <br /> 2. Wednesday, April 12, 1989, at 2:00 P.M., in the Council <br /> Chamber, to continue consideration of agency budget requests <br /> and to consider departmental budget requests; and <br /> <br /> 3. Friday, April 14, 1989, at 2:00 P.M., in the Council Chamber, <br /> to consider the City School Board's budget requests, along <br /> with income data, for 1989-90. <br /> <br />Council also called for two duly-advertised public hearings to be conducted by <br />Council on the Manager's proposed/recommended 1989-90 City Budget, as presented <br />or as amended, with the first of these hearings scheduled for Friday, May 12, <br />1989, in the Council Chamber, beginning at 2:00 P.M., and the second to be <br />conducted by Council at its regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, <br /> <br />1989, beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a monthly financial report for the period ended <br />February 28, 1989, as prepared by Finance Director Richard D. Fitts, and the <br />Annual Report (for 1988) of the City's Fire Department, as presented by Fire <br />Chief W. Lewis Reeves. <br /> <br /> <br />
