TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 1989 <br /> <br />additional revenue to the City's General Fund in the amount of $10,566.00 and <br />appropriated.a like amount for State-mandated instruction in Family Life <br />Education. "" <br /> <br />Ms. Kristen E. Shores, Executive Director of the Central Piedmont Private <br />Industry Council, appeared before Council and described current-and-planned <br />activities of the Private Industry Council, including a new program, effective <br />July 1, 1989, entitled, "The Economic Dislocation & Worker Adjustment <br />Assistance Act (EDWAAA)", which will replace a former worker assistance <br />program. In connection with this new program, and at the Private Industry <br />Council's request, Council concurred in--and'with--the designation of the <br />Private Industry Council as the substate grantee for Service Delivery Area 8. <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted the following resolution which requests the <br />Virginia Department of Transportation to add a net of 0.75 lane miles to the <br />City's street mileage for which the City receives collector/local street <br />maintenance payments from the Commonwealth of Virginia: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville is entitled to receive <br />assistance payments for the maintenance of eligible streets under <br />the State Functional Classification System as set forth in <br />Section 33.1-41.1 of the State Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation <br />procedures for adding urban streets eligible for maintenance <br />payments under the State Functional Classification System as set <br />forth in Section 33.1-41.1 of the Code, it is necessary that a <br />request by Council resolution be made in order for the Department <br />to consider said revisions; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled this 14th day of March, <br />1989, that it hereby requests the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation to add as eligible mileage, for Collector/Local <br />street maintenance payments, a net of 0.75 lane miles as shown on <br />attached two (2) U-1 Forms, all streets being located in and <br />maintained by the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br /> <br />
