Council was informed that ~ request for <br />a variance to this extent from the Zoning Ordinance requirement, sought by the <br />petitioners to be able to accommodate a fourth "anchor" store at their Liberty <br />Fair Mall, now under construction off Commonwealth Boulevard (west of Liberty <br />Street) and for which only three "anchor" stores were initially contemplated, <br />has been denied by the City's Board of Zoning Appeals and that the requested <br />ordinance amendment ~s now before the Planning Commission for its consideration <br />and recommendation, on which the Commission will conduct a duly-advertised <br />public hearing on January 19, 1989, with the Commission's recommendation <br />thereon presumed to be available to City Council at or before the Council's <br />forthcoming January 24th meeting. Council was also informed that most area <br />shopping malls are currently required to provide no more than five (5) parking <br />spaces per 1,000 square feet of leasable area. Council called for a duly- <br />advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council~on this proposal and <br />request at Council's January 24th meeting. <br /> <br />Several members of the City School Board, with Board Chairman Worth H.
