TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 1988 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council cancelled its <br />regular semi-monthly meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, 1988. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the following staff reports: <br /> <br />An updating of a 1986 report on the extent of "homeless" <br />people in Martinsville and on assistances and services <br />available to them; <br /> <br />An updated report covering current and projected.wastewater <br />flows, financing of Capital-and-O&M costs for the next five <br />years for sewage/wastewater treatment (including a buy-back <br />of the Henry County Public Service Authority's owned <br />capacity in the City's wastewater treatment plant), and <br />projected fund balances for the five-year period): <br /> <br />The first edition of the '~artinsville Government <br />Messenger", a quarterly newsletter designed to provide <br />citizens with important and helpful information about their <br />local government and its services; <br /> <br />A report by Police Chief Terry L. Roop in response to <br />complaints registered by citizens residing at the Rivermont <br />Apartments (off West Fayette Street) of lack of--or <br />inadequate--response by the City's Police Department to <br />requests for help and assistance filed by some residents at <br />that location; <br /> <br />An award from the AAA Clubs of Virginia, in cooperation with <br />the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, in the form of a <br />special citation recognizing Martinsville for its 1987 Out- <br />standing Pedestrian Program Activities; and <br /> <br />F. The status of a proposed energy co-generating project, which <br /> has been under consideration by Multitrade Group, Inc. <br /> <br />In compliance with subsections A. 1. and A. 7. of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF <br />VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously <br />carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the <br />purposes of (i) considering nominees for appointment and/or reappointment to <br />certain boards and commissions and (2) a legal matter. At the conclusion of <br />this session, Council reconvened into regular session and unanimously <br />reappointed Mrs. Judith K. Matthews and Mr. Dennis W. Hammack to membership on <br /> <br /> <br />
