TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1988 <br /> <br />Liberty Street Extension and a portion of Townes Street (see minutes of <br />Council's meeting held October 11, 1988) and to reflect the new configuration <br />of "new" Liberty Street Extension and a portion of (North) Townes Street. <br />There being no objections registered by anyone to this proposal, Mayor Oakes <br />declared this public hearing closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded and <br />unanimously carried, Council directed that said Land Use Plan & Map be so <br />amended.,. <br /> <br />Council unanimously directed that a duly-advertised public hearing be conducted <br />by the Council at its forthcoming December 13th regular meeting on a petition, <br />as approved by the Martinsville Planning Commission and as filed by Mr. Walter <br />E. Hazelwood (and others), seeking the closing and abandonment of the section <br />of Douglas Street situated between Douglas Avenue and Graves Street. <br /> <br />By report dated November 22, 1988, the Martinsville Planning Commission <br />presented its recommended amendments and/or revisions to the City's Subdivision <br />Ordinance, culminating three years of study and review (by both the Commission <br />and the City Administration and including study and review of the City's Zoning <br /> <br /> t mlin these ordinances). In its report, the <br />Ordinance, to simplify and "s rea es" <br /> <br />Commission noted that the majority of its proposed revisions to the Subdivision <br /> <br />Ordinance" ..... involve the manner in which proposed subdivisions are <br /> <br />approved. The initial Subdivision Ordinance revisions proposed by the City <br />Administration were based on a concept which provided for the approval of all <br />subdivisions meeting ordinance standards by administrative personnel, as <br />opposed to the current ordinance whereby all subdivisions are approved by the <br />Planning Commission. The revisions as proposed by the Planning Commission <br />provide for the sharing of approval responsibility, depending upon the size of <br /> <br /> <br />
