The Martinsville Community Recreation Association for -- their financial assistance; <br /> <br />The City Manager, the City's Parks and Recreation <br />Director, and the many City employees who, by "putting <br />their shoulders to the wheel", successfully <br />transformed a facility to that point required to meet~ <br />specifications and, in so doing, provided the general <br />public with a facility of which they can be proud; <br /> <br />The many fans and citizens who vocally and otherwise <br />supported our team; and <br /> <br />The fine young men who were, and are, our team, to <br />whom we sincerely wish, "Godspeed", wherever their <br />journeys take them. <br /> <br />Given under our hands., this twenty-third day of August, 1988. <br /> <br />L. Groden <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council and the Martinsville Planning <br />Commission conducted a public hearing on a proposal to issue to The Covington <br />Company a special-use permit to allow for proposed expansion/renovations of the <br />Patrick Henry Mall (owned and operated by The Covington Company). Members <br />present from the Planning Commission were its Chairman, James H. Ford, and <br />Messrs. George B. Adams, Jr., Shelton H. Blackwell, Jr., George C. Cox, Julius <br />C. Murrell, and Joseph W. Pritchett. A map or sketch of the proposed project, <br />when completed, was presented, including suggested entrances/exits from and to <br />East Church Street. There being no objections registered by any citizen to the <br />proposed expansion/renovations or to the issuance of the required special-use <br />permit therefor, Mayor Oakes declared this public hearing closed; whereupon, <br />the Planning Commission convened into a separate session, at the conclusion of <br /> <br /> <br />
