TUESDAY, JUNE 28, 1988 <br /> <br />Pending additional information the School Board indicated that it wishes to <br />present, Council continued to its forthcoming July 12th regular meeting a <br />request from the School Board that an escrow account be established, initiated <br />by the amounts of unspent 1987-88 school budget appropriations and by <br />subsequent budgetary actions, to provide some $450,000.00 to replace fifteen <br />regular school buses and one bus for transporting handicapped children by June <br />30, 1991, pursuant to a federal mandate requiring replacement of all "pre-DOT" <br />approved school buses by that date. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a report on the status of the City's employee- <br />suggestion program which began January 1, 1988, as well as receipt of a <br />financial report for the period ended May 31, 1988. <br /> <br />Council also acknowledged receipt of Planning Commission reports on the two <br /> <br />following petitions, with Council calling for duly-advertised public hearings <br /> <br />to be conducted by Council thereon at Council's forthcoming regular meeting <br /> <br />scheduled for July 12, 1988: <br /> <br />A property rezoning petition filed by Mr. James W. Severt <br />seeking C1-A zoning of his property identified as Lot No. <br />22 at 106 South Ellsworth Street, on which site Mr. Severt <br />proposes to construct an office building; and <br /> <br />A petition filed by Mr. W. Lee Hussey seeking the <br />abandonment of an unimproved street, identified as "Doe <br />Street", and an unimproved alleyway section, both being near <br />Lavinder Street. <br /> <br />Pursuant to applicable sub-sections of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br />(1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried <br />by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes <br />of considering (I) nominees for appointment and/or reappointment to the City's <br /> <br /> <br />
