From City's General Fund ........... <br /> Total Revised Budgeted Funding ........ <br /> <br />$ 10,000.00 <br /> 54,000.00 <br /> 45,000.00 <br /> <br />$109,000.00 <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the following staff reports, several of which <br /> <br />are the result of recent inquiries/requests from various members of Council: <br /> <br />Status and/or findings on traffic conditions at the Rives <br />Road/Mulberry Road intersection and at the Commonwealth <br />Boulevard/Chatham Road intersection, with close monitoring <br />thereof to be continued; <br /> <br />On a reported-but-secret color removal process from kraft <br />paper manufacturing waste being considered or in use by <br />Champion International Corporation, Canton, North Carolina, <br />but without assurance that such a process can be success- <br />fully applied to'dye colors, such as used by the textile <br />industries in and near Martinsville; and <br /> <br />On on-going efforts to eliminate the accumulation and/or <br />storing of debris and junk at a site on Fayette Street, <br />opposite Third Street. <br /> <br />In another staff report pertaining to the recent request filed by residents of <br />the Salem Street/Sellers Street area for construction/installation by the City <br />of a neighborhood playground for small children of that area, City Manager <br />Brown reported that the estimated cost of appropriate equipment for the <br />playground is $3,994.98 and that two lots for the area are owned by Mr. Robert <br />Floyd Gravely and may be available on an annual rental basis (as reported by <br />Councilman Cole in his June 2nd letter on this matter to the City Manager) of <br />$22.00 each, which are the amounts of the annual real estate taxes thereon. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown, however, suggested that authorization of this specific project would <br />indicate that the Council is willing to implement a whole new category of <br />"mini-parks" throughout the City, which implementation will require <br /> <br /> <br />
