TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 1988 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of MartinSville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled, that the Land Use Plan of <br />the City of Martinsville be--and is hereby--amended to the extent <br />that an area consisting of properties fronting the north side of <br />East Church Street, between its intersection with Oakdale Street <br />(and continuing eastward t0) and Fairy Street, is hereby <br />designated for professional usage. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force from date of its <br />adoption. <br /> <br />Council "tabled" (for further study) a proposed ordinance which would amend <br />Section 3 of Article 2 of the City's Business-Professional-Occupational License <br />Tax Ordinance to provide tax exemptions therefrom under certain conditions. <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted for introduction and first reading a proposed <br />ordinance (identified as Ordinance No. 88-4) which, if adopted, will amend <br />Section 9-46 under Article III of the City Code (i.e., Fire Prevention Code) by <br />replacing the present BOCA Basic Fire Prevention Code with the Virginia <br />Statewide Fire Prevention Code, enforcement of which in the City would be the <br />responsibility of the City's Fire Marshal. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the <br />following resolution (as amended from the initial draft) which requests the <br />Virginia Department of Transportation to add 5.27 lane miles to the City's <br />street system for which the City receives maintenance mileage payments from the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia and by which such payments will be increased annually <br />by $21,282.00 for a new annual total.payment of $1,301,927.00: <br /> <br /> <br />
