TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 1988 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor L. D. Oakes presiding, was held Tuesday, March 22, 1988, in <br />the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:~0 P.M. All members of the <br />Council were present, viz., L. D. Oakes, Mayor; Clyde L. Willjams, Vice-Mayor; <br />William C. Cole, Jr.; Alfred T. Groden; and Allan McClain. <br /> <br />Following the invocation and Mayor Oakes' cordial welcome to visitors present, <br />Council unanimously approved of the minutes of its regular meeting held March 8, <br />1988,' subject to one correction, wherein '~M~6~i'l~i'ia~s~ ~s .~err~ne'ous't~ec.~rded <br />as being present at a recent conference between City officials and <br />representatives of Adelphia Communications (pertaining to recent complaints <br />against Adelphia's local cablevision service and to on-going improvements <br />therein by Adelphia. See MB page 189). <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br />the Planning Commission's recommendation that the north side of a section of <br />East Church Street be designated on the City's Land Use Plan as being for <br />professional usage (being now designated for "Low Density Residential" usage) to <br />parallel the professional designation assigned by Council's action on February <br />9, 1988, for the south side of East Church Street from Oakdale Street to Booker <br />Road. There being no citizens registering any objections to this proposal, <br />Mayor Oakes declared the public hearing closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded <br />and unanimously carried, Council accepted the Planning Commission's <br />recommendation by adopting the following ordinance which amends the City's Land <br />Use Plan accordingly: <br /> <br /> <br />
