'TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 1988

Mayor Oakes and City Manager Brown reported that they ?~ :~!~_z~:~.~7:~'-~7:~-'
met on Friday, March 4, 1988, with representatives of Adelphia Communications
Corporation (present franchisee for local cable television) regarding
service-and-billing complaints recently registered by the City, on behalf of
local cablevision subscribers, with said franchisee. Messrs. Oakes and Brown
reported that from this meeting it was learned that physical improvements and
personnel training are now underway and that, as a result, there should be no
cause for continuing complaints once the improvements have been made and the
training completed, all expected within the next two or three months.
Meanwhile, Councilman Cole asked City Manager Brown to prepare (for Council's
benefit and understanding) an analytic comparison of salient features of the
current cable TV franchise ordinance with like or unlike features of the cable
TV franchise ordinance which expired December 31, 1986.

Council acknowledged receipt of the 1987 Annual Report of the City's Fire
Department and, in so doing, commended the Department as well as the Ctty's
Volunteer Firefighting unit for both their fire prevention and fire suppression
activities. Included in this report was a compilation of service calls made by
the Fire Department in 1987, by number (426) and classification, with no loss of
life and only nine injuries (one firefighter and eight civilians). Estimated
losses in buildings and contents (including 42 motor vehicle fires) were
reported at $550,900.00, most of which loss was covered by insurance.

Mr. Paul Shivley, a member of the local chapter of Crime Stoppers International,
Inc., accompanied by Major Richard A.
