TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 1988 <br /> <br />Residential" designation), Council directed that a duly-advertised public <br />hearing be conducted by Council on this recommendation and/or proposal at <br />Council's forthcoming regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 22, 1988, <br />beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Council took no action on--other than to request a rewriting and/or <br />clarification of--a proposed ordinance which would amend Section 3 of Article II <br />of the City's Business-Professional-Occupational License Tax Ordinance whereby, <br />under permits issued by the City Manager, persons or groups selling goods or <br />merchandise, in connection with promotional or special events held on City <br />streets or on other public property, may be exempted from the license tax <br />specified in said Section 3. Some of the points mentioned byCouncilmen Groden, <br />Cole and McClain as being in need of refining were (1) the defining of <br />"promotional or special events", (2) the length of time exemption permits can <br />remain in force, (3) identification of sponsors, and (4) criteria under which <br />the City Manager may issue such permits. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation from City Manager Brown, Council unanimously adopted the <br />following resolution which authorizes City Manager Brown to execute on behalf of <br />the City a document entitled, "UNITED VIRGINIA VISA CARD BUSINESS AGREEMENT", <br />and (relating thereto) to apply to United Virginia Bank Card Center for a credit <br />card (or charge card) to be used in making travel arrangements for City <br />officials on official City business: <br /> <br /> <br />
