TUESDAY. SEPTEMBER 25° 1990 <br /> <br />Avenue as 'Commercial rather than its present 'designation as <br /> <br />Professional and Public and Semi-Public. Vice-Mayor Groden made a <br />motion that the advertising of the public hearing on the rezoning <br />request be in the form of a display ad rather than a legal ad. <br />This motion was seconded and carried by a unanimous vote. Ms. <br /> <br />Christins Bennett appeared before Council and stated that the <br /> <br />purpose of the proposed rezoning was to create a photo~-finishing <br />shop or floral shop and contended that these uses would not be <br />detrimental to the surrounding property owners, <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a report on a contract to supply pay <br />telephones in the City's Jail and Prison Farm and the County's Jail <br />for use by the inmates, Public Works Director Towarnicki explained <br />that the staff had been surprised that telephones could be placed <br />in the City Jail and at the City Farm that would result in the City <br />being paid for the privilege of placing phones at these locations <br /> <br />for use by the inmates, Several members of Council.expressed <br />concerns regarding the rates which will be charged by the vendor <br /> <br />and asked that the staff consider adding a. provision to the <br />contract which would require the company to have rates which are <br />reasonably comparable to those charged by'the major long-distance <br />carriers, <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a status report on unsightly conditions on <br />Barton Street between Fayette and Church Streets in which it was <br />noted that an inspection had been made of the area and that letters <br /> <br /> <br />
