squads were. ongoing.

Oakes, .Mr. Peverall

TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 1990
In response to a question by Councilman
reported that the squads. were working on

improving daytime coverage for the stations. In response to a
question by Vice-Mayor Groden, Mr. Peverall said that the comments
contained in his letter are "preliminary" in that the squads feel
that more time is needed to study all ofthe items referred to in
the study. Mr. Peverall said that the squads would need an
additional 4-6 months to respond to the E.M.S. study as a whole and
to report their findings to both Council and the Henry County Board
of Supervisors. Mr. Peverall stated that the squads would need
time to address not only the potential implementation of changes,
but the fuming for those changes as well. For example, the M-HC
Squad feels that the addition of a paid Recruiting Coordinator is
vital, but that they need to explore the possibilities of funding
this. position before they can approach Council-and the Board of
Supervisors. Mr. Peverall said that he did not want to leave the
impression that the E.M.S. system is in jeopardy of collapse.

-There are problems, but those problems are being addressedwin an
ongoingmanner. In response to a question by-=Mayor McClain, Mr.
Peverall stated-that a joint report from all four of the squads to
the City and County should'be prepared in the next 30-60 days. Mr.
PeVerall=lstated that it would then be appropriate for the City and
County to take the joint report under-advisement for a period of
time in~.order to allow for more meetings and input-between.the

squads.and~ the governing bodies to take place.~= Mayor McClain
