434 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 1990 <br /> <br />City's Proposed Land Use Plan to designate an area east of Liberty <br /> <br />Street, comprised of Lots 0~ 102, 103, and a portion of an unnamed <br /> <br />unimproved street, from Medium Density Residential to Commercial. <br /> <br />IThere.being~no comments from the public, Mayor McClain declared the <br />public hearing closed.-Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br /> <br />vote, Council approved the following ordinance: <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br /> · Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled, <br /> that the Land Use Plan of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia, be--and ishereby--amended to the extent that <br />an area east of Liberty Street, comprised of Lots 0, 102, <br />7103, and a portion of an unnamed unimproved street, be <br /> and is hereby designed as being for Commercial usage. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br /> existing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after <br /> August 15, 1990. - <br /> <br />· Council considered preliminary comments by the Martinsville-Henry <br />~ County Rescue Squad regarding· the Emergency Medical Services <br />..... rReport. Mr. Jim Peverall, President of the M-HC Rescue Squad was <br />present toanswerquestions relating to a letter (attached to these <br /> <br /> .minutes as =~'Appendix A") which]he had written toIMayor McClain <br /> regarding'-the M-He Rescue Squad's preliminary findings .on the <br /> E.M.S.. study..~.In response to a~question by Councilman Oakes, Mr. <br /> Peverall'-' reported that volunteerism in the M-HC Rescue Squad had <br /> increased'"byl2-15 new members over the last 30-45 days. Mr. <br /> Peverall reported that all of the squads have taken steps to deal <br /> .with %he problems·noted in the study and that discussions among the <br /> <br /> <br />
