TUESDAY, JUNE '26, 1990 <br /> <br />financial arrangement for purchase of computer equipment'l Mr. <br />Brown explained that Wang Laboratories, Inc.'had offered the City <br />all of the ~computer equipment it needs "for a total price of <br />$145,772. In order to fund the purchase, Mr. Brown proposed to <br />utilize $50,000 which was appropriated in the FY90-91 Budget, <br />leaving a balance of $95,772, which could'be financed at a local <br />bank. Mr. Brown explained that the offer had come about sooner <br />than the City staff had anticipated and that he had hoped Council <br />would have been able to conduct a review of the Finance Department <br />priorto considering this item. Councilman McClain stated that he <br />did not feel that Council had a clear picture of the future'of the <br />City's-computer system and therefore could not support the <br />purchase.-Vice-Mayor Williams moved to not purchase the'equipment. <br />This was'seconded by Councilman Groden, and carriedlby a 'vote of <br />3"yes" (Vice-Mayo~ Williams, Councilman'McClain, ~nd 'Councilman <br />Groden), l~"no'' (Mayor Oakes), and 1 "abstain" (Councilman Cole). <br /> <br />Council considered a West Piedmont Planning District Commission <br />Clearinghouse Review on a request by the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation regarding their Statewide'105 Program of Projects <br />for FY91-96.
