TUESDAY. JUNE~-5, 1990 <br /> training.-This should include: a salaried recruiting coordinator, <br /> a~budget for advertising, a salaried training coordinator, training <br /> equipment,.-a high school program to attract-'new, young members, <br /> <br />.employers participation and support of training and volunteerism <br /> through flexible schedules, and increased EMT training; (3) Reduce <br /> response time to life threatening emergencies."This would include <br /> staffing the volunteer stations, the implementation of a first <br /> responder strategy with automatic dispatch (to include the City <br /> Fire Department, improved training and equipment for the Police and <br /> Sheriff's departments, and industrial first~ aid response), <br /> emergency medical dispatcher training, a closestY'unit dispatch <br /> policy, staffing the Horsepasture station, planning for the Axton <br /> substation, and an EMT-defibrillator program~ in the' City Fire <br /> Department, BLS Units and industrial first aid; (4) Improve the <br /> communications system by developing the Fork Mountain site, adding <br /> base stations at Horsepasture and Axton, implementing a receiver <br /> voting system with receivers at Fork Mountain, Horsepasture, Axton <br /> and Bassett to improve portable talkback, implementing a~'~tandby <br /> repeater, providing generator backup to the Fork Mountain site, <br /> improving ALS communications with the Fork Mountain site, <br /> implementing a computer aided dispatch system, and adding the "old" <br /> rescue frequency-to consoles; (5) Change dispatch procedures by <br /> reducing the allowable delay for volunteer response by maintaining <br /> better status of available resources, sendingtheclosest unit to <br /> <br /> emergencies,- using,= more portable radios for volunteers to <br />· acknowledgeyresponse;.and (6) Improve organization-and'management <br /> <br /> <br />
