MAY 8. 1990 <br /> <br />.Following a..question byCouncilman Cole, Councilman McClain amended <br /> his.motion to grant a 2% increase on December 1, 1990 instead of <br /> Januar~ 1, 1991 so that it.=would parallel the increase which will <br /> be granted to state employees. This motion was seconded and <br /> carried by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes expressed concerns regarding the difference in the <br /> <br />actual payroll increase of 5.58% in FY89-90 as compared to the <br /> <br />predicted increase of 4.9%. Mr. Brown explained that the cost of <br /> <br />the. pay plan will differ from year to year, depending on the number <br /> <br />-of,~,.emplayees who may happen to qualify for either tr~i~ing or <br /> <br />.longevity increases. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes stated that he...felt Council <br /> <br />.needed better projections. Mr. Brown stated that the <br /> <br />Adm+Distration had done the best projection that i~ knew how to <br /> <br />_Councilman McClain proposed that $90,000 budgeted for <br /> <br />-completion of construction to the basement of the Municipal <br /> <br />Building. for purposes of housing the Court Services Unit and <br /> <br />...Commonwealth~s-Attorney be cut to $45,000 and. that the Court <br /> <br />Services Unit consider moving to rental office space (available <br /> <br />nearby) which would serve their needs until the additional funds <br /> <br />to~complete the construction are available next year. Mr. McClain <br /> <br />estimated that.the net reduction in local cost would be $38,000 <br /> <br />.,,this year as a result of this change. Mayor Oakes suggested that <br /> <br />Mr. .Brown. ask Mr. Jan Reed if he is- amenable to moving into <br /> <br />temporary quarters. <br /> <br /> <br />
