ITUESDAY. APRIL 24° 1990 Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembledthis 24th day of April 1990, that it does hereby express its support forthe King's Grant Center; and BE IT FURTHERsRESOLVED that the Martinsvilte City Council does hereby give honor to those volunteers who are so graciously~donating their time, effort,l~ and money to establish this landmark community in Martinsville and ~Henry~County. -~ ~ Upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the following resolution requesting the Virginia. Department of Transportation to amend the Thoroughfare Plan by =extending and four-laning Hooker Street from the intersection of Fairy~Street and Commonwealth Boulevard southeastward to East Church Street at Bob Gregory Street: WHEREAS, on October 13, 1987, the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, adopted a Resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to ~replace or rehabilitate a bridge situated on East Church Street extending over the Norfolk Southern Railroad in the City of Martinsville; and WHEREAS, the VDOT has included the rehabilitation of this bridge intheir Six-Year Improvement Program beginning with FY1989-90 extending through FY1994-95; and WHEREAS, it has now been determined that, due to the condition of this structure, this facility will have to be replaced; and WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville is interested in the widening~to four lanes and the extension .of.Hooker Street, from the intersection of Fairy Street and Commonwealth Boulevard southeastward crossing underneath Church Street at the aforesaid bridge and extending to and along BodenStreet to the intersection of East Church Street and Bob Gregory Street; and . WHEREAS, the construction of the above-named street will necessitate the installation of an additional bridge span along Church Street as a part of the-planned bridge
