320 <br /> <br />TUESDAY,!.APRIL. iO, 1990. <br /> <br />Council ~ granted tentative approval to the budget of the Piedmont Regional <br />Community Services Board in the amount of $42,394. Mr. James Tobin, Di- <br />rector of the agency, was present to make the request. <br /> <br />Council deferred action on the budget request of Citizens Against-Family <br />Violence, by a vote of 4 to 1 (Councilman Groden voting not to defer ac- <br />tion on.the request), Mr. Ward Armstrong, in explaining the requested in- <br />crease from $2,000 to $3,500, stated that during 1989, of the persons that <br />were--assisted by C.A.F.V., 24.1% were City residents Henry County. <br />residents accounted for 59-8%, and the funding from Henry. County was about <br />$15, O00,1..thereby~ suggesting some disproportionate funding. Councilman <br />McClain stated that he.had difficulty with a 75% increase in -any budgets. <br />Councilman Groden!-stated-that he would be concerned with this type of in-.~ <br />crease if the budget was for $300,000, but not with a budget of $3,500- <br />Mr. Armstrong noted that the agency's budget had been cut from 1988 to <br />1989.-from $3,000 to $2,000 and that the agency is attemptingto get back <br /> <br />tQthe funding level thatit would have been at <br /> <br />cu~ed. : ~:~ ::' .= <br /> <br />Council tentatively.approved the budget request of $61,275 <br /> <br />if the cut had not oc <br /> <br />for the Mar- <br /> <br />tinsville-Henry County E-911 Center. Mr. Benny Summerlin noted =that the <br />Center is the first consolidated joint communications center utilizing <br />enhanced E-911 in the State of Virginia. FY90-91 is the first full year <br />that the Center will be in operation. ~e current funding is 75% by the <br />County and~ 25% by the City. The Cityis currently receiving $27,666 in <br />revenues from the State Compensation Board. to fund two positions at the <br /> <br /> <br />
