Council acknowledged his request and asked City Manager Brown to review <br />and bring a report back to Council at its next meeting, March 13, 1990. <br /> <br />It is noted that several Agenda items were shifted around at various points <br />during the meeting, so these minutes will not follow the printed Agenda. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a presentation by Chief Terry L. Roop of the Police <br />Department's recipient of their "Citizen of the 'Year" award to Mrs. Agnes <br />Mobile Scott Hairston for her outstanding contributions to the City and law <br />enforcement for many years. Mayor Oakes expressed appreciation to Mrs. <br />Hairston for her valuable service to the City. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council endorsed the filing <br />of an annual application' by the Mar~insville-Henry County 'Economic Development <br />Corporation for Employer Outreach Programs funded under the Job Training <br />Partnership Act in the a~ount of $6,125 for the City. Mr. Joseph Gero, <br />Executive Director of the Corporation was present. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published notices, Council conducted a public hearing on a <br />request by the Broad Street Christian Church to close and abandon two ten-foot <br />alleys (one public and one private) located perpendicular to College Street and <br />north of Market Street. City Manger Brown noted that, under present policy, <br />the Church would be required to pay 50~ of the appraised value ($1,175) of the <br />public alley to be abandoned which would be $587.50. During the public hear- <br />ing, Mr. Rayford B. Smith, Trustee of Broad Street Christian Church stated that <br />the Church would be willing to pay half of the appraised value of the public <br /> <br /> <br />
