236

TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 1990

approved. Mr. John Swezey, attorney for Mr. Reeves and Mr. Lowell Thomas,
noted that townhouse units are the most desirable of multi-family housing units
because there are individual owners of the land and house, rather than condi-
miniums where you 'own the apartment but not the land, or apartment units that
are owned by a developer, etc.', and rented to others. After much discussion of
this matter, motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously carried, by Council
to table this requested amendment arid send it back to the Planning Commission
for further consideration and to include it in their future recommendations as
a part of the overall Zoning Ordinance revisions being currently considered.

Pursuant to a duly-published notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a
petition submitted by Mr. Mark Black of Leed's, Inc., requesting an amendment
to Section X, Signs, of the City's Zoning Ordinance to allow businesses within
the C-2 Commercial Business District to have two signs rather than the current-
ly allowed one sign, said request having been recommended for approval by the
Planning Commission. City Manager Brown stated that this would not change the
total area allowed for signs in the Central Business District, but allow the
businesses to have two signs rather than one. He noted further that the Plan-
ning Commission and City Administration had reviewed this matter and was in
support of this proposed amendment and, therefore, they recommended the adop-
tion of Ordinance No. 90-2 as presented. Mr. Black stated that the businesses
needed an extra sign to advertise their business and enhance retail sales.
There were no objections expressed and no other comments~ thus the public hear-
ing was closed. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously.carried, Council
adopted Ordinance No. 90-2 amending Section X of the City's Zoning Ordinance,
as follows:
