-230 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 9, 1990 <br /> <br />II. Water/Wastewater Teatment Plant Maintenance Personnel <br /> <br />A. Equipment Maintenance Experience - most applicable would be at <br /> treatment facilities followed by industrial plants, with particular <br /> emphasis on pumps, large electric motors and industrial pipework. <br /> <br />B. Courses and Training - related classes available through Patrick <br /> Henry Community College and/or high school would include welding, <br /> plumbing, and electronics. <br /> <br />III. Pipeline Maintenance and Construction Personnel <br /> <br />A. Experience and Dependability - most equipment operators and labor <br /> supervisors are trained and promoted from within. Entry level is <br /> normally as a laborer for which prior construction or equipment <br /> operator experience and employment record are considered. <br /> <br />B. Education and Training - classes or specific training are not <br /> normally available for this type of work, but related training in <br /> plumbing, masonary and mechanical repair is helpful. <br /> <br />Finance <br /> <br />The jobs and positions in this department include administrative, dat~ <br />processing, accounting, clerical and meter reading jobs. Considerable <br />knowledge and experience are required to carry out the responsibilities of <br />these positions. The educational requirements vary from high school level <br />to four years of college-level training. Those interested in these jobs <br />can avail themselves of courses involving specific areas of work through <br />Patrick Henry Community College and National Business College. In <br />addition, on the job training could also possibly be obtained through the <br />Piedmont Employment Consortium. On-the-job training would increase the <br />chances of employment of those who apply for jobs or positions in the <br />Finance Department. <br /> <br />Housing Services <br /> <br />The desired qualifications for <br />with training opportunities <br />follows: <br /> <br />positions in the Housing Department, along <br />for potential employees, are listed as <br /> <br />Clerical positions - good typing skills, bookkeeping, dictaphone, <br />filing, computer or word processing knowledge and good communication <br />skills. Classes offering these skills can be taken at any community <br />college in Secretarial Science. <br /> <br /> <br />
