210

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1989

recommendation but, at the same time, has some misgivings about not maintaining
uniform time limits for all off-street parking lots. Council continued this
matter for further consideration at its next regular meeting, meanwhile
suggesting that Messrs. Franck and Greene and representatives of the CDC be
invited to said meeting for discussion of this matter with Council. Council
also suggested that City Manager Brown provide Council with his analysis of
what might be involved in developing/maintaining uniformity as to off-street
parking regulations.

City Attorney David B' Worthy reported that, as a result of his recent legal
efforts to enforce Collection of delinquent real estate taxes due the City,
some $33,000.00 has been.collected, whereas another $7,000.00 should.be forth-
coming by February 1, 1990, from assurances he has received. Mr. Worthy
reported, too, in addition to one other property being listed for sale, on
which $2,500.00 in delinquent taxes are due and would take precedence, twelve
suits are being processed against taxpayers who have not responded to prior
notices, representing some $13,000.00 in delinquent taxes, much of which can be
expected to be collected by year's end.

City Manager Brown informed Council that the new E-911 Communications System is
expected to be "on line" and in full operation on January 1, 1990, as
originally scheduled, in the Henry County Administration Building, and that an
"Open House" will be scheduled soon after the opening date for City Council,
the Henry County Board of Supervisors, and other persons directly or indirectly
involved with the new system. Mr. Brown also pointed to the development of
plans to renovate the Police Department's lobby and its current dispatcher
area, costs of which are to be financed by current budget appropriations
therefor and by funding expected to be provided in the City's 1990-91 budget.
