TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1989 <br /> <br />Upon motion by Councilman McClain, seconded by Vice-Mayor Willjams, and by a <br />vote of four-to-one (Mayor Oakes voting against the motion), Council directed <br />that, beginning with the month of January, 1990, and continuing thereafter <br />unless otherwise changed, the first of its two regular monthly meetings, being <br />on the second Tuesday of each month, shall begin at 9:30 A.M. The second <br />regular monthly meeting shall continue to be held on the fourth Tuesday of each <br />month, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Manager Brown reported on the extent of participation by City employees <br />(by departments or offices) in the 1989 United Way Campaign and, in so doing, <br />commended Mrs. Lisa Holiday, of the City's Finance Department, for her strong <br />efforts in coordinating this campaign for the City's employees. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a financial report for the period ended October <br />31, 1989, as prepared by Finance Director Richard D Fitts. <br /> <br />City Manager Brown reported that, pursuant to a recent request or suggestion <br />from the Martinsville/Henry County Voters League, certain changes will soon be <br />made in the lane markings and traffic signalization at the intersection of <br />Fayette Street-West Church Street-Memorial Boulevard to better accommodate <br />motor vehicle traffic.moving from West Fayette Street eastward along Fayette <br />Street or into West Church Street and, also, for such eastward-bound traffic <br />desiring to make a left-turn northward into Memorial Boulevard. <br /> <br /> <br />
