TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 1989 <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted certain revisions to the City's Employee Manual, as <br />proposed by City Manager Brown, pertaining (1) to educationalincentives/ <br />assistance for City employees, (2) to death leave regulations, and (3) to the <br />defining of sexual harassment. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of the City Manager, CounCil directed that, if funds <br />required of property owners for the planned Fayette Street Streetscape Project <br />are not in hand by the end of the work-week ending September 22nd, said project <br />be abandoned. <br /> <br />City Manager Brown informed Council that the sidewalk construction project <br />-planned for'~ookerRoad during the current year is being cancelled because of <br />lack of necessary (donated) right-of-way. <br /> <br />At the request of Councilman McClain, Council deferred--to its next regular <br />meeting--recognizing a member of the City's Social Services Board for out- <br />standing service as a member of this Board. <br /> <br />Members of Council indicated that they will attend a workshop sponsored by the <br />Virginia Municipal League, to be held in Danville, Virginia, on' September 14th, <br />on a new set of proposed legislative bills (by the Virginia Commission on Local <br />Government Structures & Relationships) on annexation, transition, reversion of <br />independent cities to dependent status, and financial incentives for <br />cooperation. Pending the outcome of this workshop, members of Council might <br />decide to attend one of the public hearings scheduled by the Commission on the <br />proposed legislation. <br /> <br /> <br />
