TUESDAY, JULY 11, 1989 <br /> <br />to the stationary signs suggested by Mr. Katz, Mr. Towarnicki recommended <br />against that proposal, indicating that a transition by motor vehicle traffic to <br />such installation, followed withina relatively short period of time by another <br />transition to the permanent signal lights, might create more problems as well <br />as confusion. <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted for introduction and first reading a proposed <br />amendment, in the form of Ordinance No. 89-7, to the City's Zoning Ordinance, <br />as requested by Mr. Conrad M. Knight, Architect, and as recommended for <br />Council's enactment by the Planning Commission, to permit operation, under <br />certain conditions, of adult day-care centers in the City's R-6 Residential" <br />and "P-1 Professional" districts. Council called for a duly-advertised public <br />hearing to be conducted by Council on this proposed amendment at Council's <br />forthcoming regular meeting scheduled for July 25, 1989. <br /> <br />Council also unanimously accepted for introduction and first reading a proposed <br />ordinance (identified as Ordinance No. 89-8) to implement the requirements of <br />the State of Virginia with regard to "Going Out of Business" sales, where <br />advertised and conducted, for which a permit shall be required as well as a <br />permit fee of $50.00, plus an inventory of goods to be offered for sale, plus a <br />prohibition against commingling non-sale goods. Mr. J. Ronnie Minter, City <br />Commissioner of the Revenue, appeared before Council in support of the proposed <br />ordinance, which he agreed to administer if the proposed permit fee will be no <br />'less than fifty dollars as proposed. In response to inquiry, Mr. Minter <br />reported that such permit fees will go into the City's General Fund revenues. <br /> <br /> <br />
