TUESDAY, JUNE 27, 1989

Pursuant to Council's request from its regular meeting held June 13, 1989, for
an estimate of the cost of providing a replacement office for Probation Officer
W. S. ("Dink") Gardner in order that Mr. Gardner's present office might be
converted to a 'Witness Room" for--and adjacent to'-the General District Court-
room, City Manager Brown reported that the cost would be $6,000.00, plus an
additional $500.00 for changing door locks and adding an observation window to
Room 139. Reed,
the latter being Director of Court Services for the Juvenile & Domestic
Relations Court, concurred with Judge Warren's suggestion; however, Mr. Gardner
pointed to certain alt'ernatives, such as converting Room 138 from a storage
room to its originally-intended usage as a withess room, making use of space in
the telephone equipment room, and/or making a room at the end of the entrance-
way to the General District Courtroom, i.e., at entrance 101-B , by construct-
ing one wall and one doorway. Council continued this matter for consideration
in the preparation of the City's 1990-91 budget.

Pursuant to Council's request from its recent June 13th meeting, City Manager
Brown presented a written response--as made a part of these minutes by an
addendum thereto--to the report and recommendations submitted at said june 13th
meeting the Ad Hoc Steering Committee on Drugs, in which Mr. Brown emphasized
