9,0 <br /> <br />· TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10', 1991 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the <br />fqllowing Resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to <br />acquire all rights-of-way necessary for the East Church Street Bm. idge <br />Replacement Project: <br /> <br />WttEREAS, a Notice of Willingness to hold a Public Hearing was <br />issued on October 15, 1991, in the City of Martinsville by the <br />Commonwealth Transportation Board, after due and proper notice for <br />the purpose of considering the proposed Route 58 Church Street <br />Bridge Replacement Project 0058-120-102, C-501, B-602 in the City <br />of Martinsville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there was no response from the general public to <br />participate in said public hearing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council had previously requested the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation to program this project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council considered all such matters; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled December 10, 1991, that said <br />Council requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to <br />acquire all rights-of-way necessary for this project, conveying <br />this right-of-way to the City of Martinsville at the appropriate <br />time. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous· vote, Council adopted the <br />following Resblution expressing appreciation to the Martinsville-Henry County <br />Christmas Parade Association, Inc., for their efforts in organizing this <br />year's parade: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the annual Christmas Parade has been an event which has <br />brought the community together for many years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Christmas Parade was nearly canceled in 1991 due to <br />the illness of long-time organizer Frank L. Taylor; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Marilyn Leftwich stepped forward to offer her time and <br />energy in spearheading this year's parade; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the officers of the Parade Association consisting_ of <br />Raymond Ferrell, Acting President; Jimmy Wright, Treasurer; and <br />Vicki Eastwood, Secretary; and a Parade Steering Committee <br />consisting of William C. Cole, Jr., Joseph Finley, Linda Powell, <br />Cathie Carter, and Marilyn Leftwich, Chairman, devoted countless <br />hours to organizing this year's parade; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, 1991 Christmas Parade was a huge success; now therefore~ <br /> <br /> <br />
