23,4 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER'10, 1991 <br /> <br />COuncil acknowledged a financial report for the month ending 8/3'0/91. <br />Council asked that an update report on the collection of unpaid taxes be <br />given at=the September 24, 1991 Council meeting and also that a sales tax <br />collection report be made in connection with the monthly financial report. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a report on school funds for FY90-91 in which the City <br />Manager reported that during that fiscal year, School revenues from the <br />Commonwealth and Federal Government were $71,503.48 below budget with <br />expenditures below budget by $98,540.28~ producing a net positive of <br />$27,436.80. However, .this must be reduced by $4,746.87 because of the <br />shortage in other projected local School generated revenues.. Mr. 3rown <br />therefore reported that the School's financial position for FY90-91 has a net <br />positive result of $22,689.93 when compared to budgeted revenues and <br />expen~itures~ <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a report on Police Department operations in which Mr. <br />Brown and'Police Chief Terry L. Roop reported on the community oriented <br />policing efforts which will begin this Fall as a result of Council's decision <br />to add two additional police officers to the Police Department during 2Y90- <br />91. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council authorized the City <br />Manager to execute a contract with the Virginia Department of Housing and <br />Community Development relating tothe Smith Lake Road Housing Project. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed Scherrie <br />A..Dalton, 812 Second Street, and Jason E. Farrar, 1014 Oakwood Court, as <br />student members of the Martinsville Transportation Safety Commission for the <br />1991-92 School Year° <br /> <br /> <br />
