TUESDAY, AUGUST 13,199 1 <br />Flood/insurance Program.= In response to concerns expressed by CoUncilman <br /> <br />Adams, Mr..Brown stated that the City Staff would research the question of <br />the .allowance of forestry and outdoor plant nurseries in the Floodway <br />District. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved <br />the Ordinance on first reading. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on a proposal by the City Administration <br />to amend the Zoning Ordinance to allow certain "light" industrial uses in the <br />C-2 (CBD) 'Commercial District "by right". Ms. Georgia Lee, of C.W. Holt, <br />Inc., stated that she hoped Council would delay any amendment in the Zoning <br />Ordinance until a recommendation had been given by the new ad hoc committee <br />which has been formed to promote downtown. There being no other public <br />comment, Mayor McClain declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> Council considered approval, on' first reading, of one of the following: <br /> Ordinance No. 91-12 amending Section VIII, Paragraph C of the City's ~=!~3ning <br /> Ordinance to allow by Special Use Permit certain "light" industrial uses <br /> within the-.C-2 .(CBD) Commercial District; or Ordinance No.-91'13-~amending <br /> Sectionl V, Paragraph K'of the City's Zoning Ordinance~.to allow "by right" <br /> certain-2'light" industry in the C-2 District. Councilman Williams made a <br /> motion to delay action on either proposal until Council receives a <br /> recommendation from the ad hoc committee. This motion was seconded.by <br /> Councilman Adams. Vice-Mayor Groden stated that he felt Council needed to <br /> provide guidance to the ad hoc committee and that an appropriate action would <br /> be to approve one of the proposed Ordinances on first reading. Councilman <br /> Oakes a~reed with Vice-Mayor Groden, stating that he felt the issuelhad been <br /> <br />.delayed long enough. The motion and the second to table this matter were <br /> then withdrawn. Vice-Mayor Groden stated that he favored the adoption of <br /> Ordihance No. 91-13 which would allow "light" industrial uses in the C-2 <br /> <br /> <br />
