At the conclusion of this Executive Session," Council reconvened into regular session, wherein, by a recorded vote, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session, and (2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. Several members'of Council stated that the School Board appointments had been one of the most difficult decisions that they have had to make in their tenure on City Council. Mayor McClain commented that the reason the decision was so difficult was that Council had ~'15 truly outstanding applicants for these positions". Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed Rev. William Shackleford, St., 405 Third Stre,et, and Ja~_es H. Johnson, Jr., 217 Arrowhead Trail to the Ma~tinsviile City School Board for 3-year terms beginning 7/1/9i (replacing Worth H. Carter, Jr. and William W. Edwards, Jr.) In accordance with Section 2.i-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and carried bya unanimous recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose of considering appointments to the following Boards and Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1 of Section 2.1-344(A): Social Services Board; Blue Ridge Regional Library Governing Board, Economic Development Corporation of M-HC Board, Office on Youth Advisory Board, West Piedmont Planning District COmmission Board, and the Commercial Development Commission.
