3.09 <br /> TUESDAY. JUNE 9. 1992 <br />Council heard a presentation from Mr. Joseph Gero, Executive Director <br />of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation, <br />regarding a newly-produced pamphlet which details the efforts of the <br />EDC in assisting Owens/Corning Fiberglas and Dutailier in locating in <br />the community. Mr. Gero stated that the pamphlet would be used as a <br />marketing tool. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set a public <br />hearing for June 23, 1992 on a request by Alta Kitson to rezone Lot 11 <br />located at 307 East Church Street, from P-2 Professional to C-1A <br />Commercial. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a financial report for the month ending 5/31/92. <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Groden announced that Council would hold a retreat beginning <br />at 1:00 P.M. June 12, 1992 and ending at approximately Noon on June 13, <br />1992 at the Vice-Mayor's home at Smith Mountain Lake, Island Green <br />Point, Townhouse 14-B. <br /> <br />Council discussed the following items, which were not on the agenda, <br />before entering Executive Session: (1) Councilman Adams noted that he <br />had received a notice of dividend on his automobile insurance and <br />commended the police departments around the State for their role in <br />assisting in highway safety efforts; (2) Councilman Oakes commended the <br />Police Department for their role in the recent undercover drug <br />operation known as "Operation Risky Business"; (3) Vice-Mayor Groden <br />noted that the recycling containers at the Harris Teeter store on <br />Brookdale Road were overflowing over the June 6-7 weekend (the City <br />Manager stated that he was aware of the situation and that this problem <br /> <br /> <br />
