TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1992 <br />Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee, was present to make the <br />request. Ms. Beale stated that Henry County had committed $3,500 to <br />the project, which has not been included in the City Manager's budget <br />proposal. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of the Drug Task Force. Mr. <br />William C. Cole, Jr., Chairman of the Drug Task Force, was present to <br />explain the request for $17,110, which has been included in the City <br />Manager's budget proposal. <br /> <br />Council reviewed the budget request of the Registrar and the Electoral <br />Board. Ms. Ercell Cowan, City Registrar, and members of the Electoral <br />Board were present to respond to inquiries from Council. <br /> <br />Council heard from David DePriest, Executive Director of the YMCA, who <br />responded to Council's concerns about the School Board's decision to <br />eliminate funding for the "drown-proofing" program. Mr. DePriest <br />stated that the Junior High had a problem in scheduling the drown- <br />proofing classes in the new YMCA building, but that he is willing to <br />work with the School System to continue the program. Mayor McClain <br />stated that he desired a follow-up report on this matter before the <br />budget is approved. <br /> <br />Council continued its page-by-page review of the City Manager's budget <br />proposal. <br /> <br />In discussing the Refuse Fund, several Councilmen commented on the need <br />for additional revenues to fund both current operations and future <br />major capital expenditures for solid waste.
